Losing Weight in the City: Things That Are Awesome About Training for a Marathon
Yup, it’s going to be all marathon all the time over here until at least 10/11/10. (Also, if you’re new here, you might want to check out my top posts page.)
I’ve been complaining a lot lately about marathon training, so I thought I’d tell you why it’s awesome. Tomorrow, I’ll tell you, in…
Yes to most of this, but especially:
Sightseeing—I love seeing areas of a city on a run that I’d never see otherwise. I ran in my new ‘hood in Brooklyn yesterday and loved checking out tons of new streets quickly; covering that much ground on a casual walk would’ve taken so much longer!
Looking badass—I like to pretend like I’m badass at just about everything. Some things are just laughable (e.g., acting like I’m good at arm wrestling), but when you run 20 miles, um, no one can really argue that you aren’t hardcore. Or they can try, but then you can kick them with your superstrong leg. Or you can show them your chafing wounds and they’ll get grossed out and leave you alone.
:)
Chafing wounds. ‘Nuff said.
